Tips for De-Winterizing Equipment

It's important to properly de-winterize your equipment. All that time sitting in storage can take its toll, but the following steps help you get your fleet ready for spring.

Inspect the Equipment

The first step to de-winterizing equipment is to thoroughly inspect each model. Make sure that there hasn't been any damage left by pests, moisture buildup, and so on. If you uncover any issues, get those addressed as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the worse the damage could get and the more expensive the repair can become.

Clean the Equipment

Layers of dust and grime may have accumulated on your equipment throughout the winter. Take the time to clean off this gunk buildup and start spring off with pristine equipment. This will ensure optimal performance as well as optimal representation of your brand.

Return Any Batteries

For some of your models, you may have removed the battery and placed it on a battery tender. Now is the time to put it back.

Add Lubrication

Before you start using the equipment again, lubricate the various moving parts. Make sure there's enough grease on the various parts so that nothing will get stuck when you start working with the equipment.
